Your ducts sit in an attic that reaches 160°F in July. What leaks out of them is cooling you have already paid for, and it is the largest single loss in most Phoenix homes.

The method

We measure static pressure first
It is the blood pressure of the system, and most homes we survey are well over the manufacturer's limit. High static means low airflow, low airflow means poor cooling and a shortened compressor life, and no amount of refrigerant fixes it.

We seal at the joints, not with tape
Mastic on every connection, plenum and boot. Cloth duct tape fails within a couple of Phoenix summers — the attic heat is what kills it — and a taped joint that has let go looks fine from below.

We fix the runs that are strangled
Kinked flex, sharp turns straight off the plenum, and runs crushed under stored boxes. Replacing thirty feet of badly routed duct routinely does more for comfort than a whole new system.

Is duct sealing worth it, honestly?
In a Phoenix attic, more often than not, yes — because the air escaping is escaping into 160°F. It is one of the few improvements where the arithmetic is usually obvious. We will show you the before and after airflow readings either way.
Should I add more insulation over the ducts?
Sometimes, but sealing comes first. Insulating a leaking duct slows down a loss you have not stopped.
